Obituary for Frank L. Gilhams

Frank L. Gilhams age 85 of Sturgis, Michigan met his savior at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan Sunday September 24, 2017 while surrounded by the love of his family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita (Dziurgot), his parents Chauncey and Kathryn (Finney) Gilhams, and his sister Jacquelyn Ulmer.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Poley, his brother Jim (Linda) Gilhams, his son Frederick (Michelle) Gilhams, daughter Mary Chapman, grandchildren James (Tara) Bond, Holli (Joseph) Rubley, Jessica (Nate) Folkertsma, and Valerie Gilhams; seven great grandchildren; step-children: Michael (Deb) Poley, Michele (Tim Grandstaff) Mancino and Mark (Cheryl) Poley; step-grandchildren: Melissa (Mike) Brunt, John Poley, Jessica (Adam Reaume) Mancino, Rachel (Scott) Mancino Smith, Amanda (Chris Evans) Mancino, Kayla Poley, Hanna Poley and Paige Poley; four step-great grandchildren. Frank was also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict earning the rank of Corporal.
He was a long time employee of the Kirsch Company in the tool and die department as well as a farmer at his beloved farm in White Pigeon.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:30 P.M. Thursday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. The Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Frank L. Gilhams will begin at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Richard Altine will officiate. Entombment will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis where full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, 30400 Telegraph Rd., Bingham Farms, MI 48025 of the Holy Angels Catholic Church, 402 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091.
